StorySeeds (“the App,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is owned and operated by Jacob Wikingellis. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you or your child use the StorySeeds app.

StorySeeds was created to nurture children’s creativity and curiosity by turning the world around them into stories. We value your trust, protect children’s privacy, and never show ads or sell data.

1. Our Commitment to Privacy

StorySeeds follows the principles of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and other applicable privacy laws. We collect only the minimum data necessary for the app to function, and parents are always in control of their family’s information.

No advertising or third-party tracking
No social features that allow open communication
No data sharing beyond the services required to run StorySeeds

2. Information We Collect

We collect limited personal and usage data to provide safe, creative storytelling experiences.

From Parents

Email address (for authentication and account management)
Subscription and payment information (handled through Apple or Google in-app purchase systems)

From Children’s Profiles

First name or nickname (chosen by the parent)
Age or age range (to tailor stories)
Uploaded photos or photo references for story creation
Generated stories, drawings, and related creative content

Technical Information

Basic app usage data (such as device type, version, and crash logs)
No precise location data or advertising identifiers are collected

3. How We Use Information

We use the collected data to:

Generate personalized, age-appropriate stories
Provide safe family profiles and story libraries
Improve app performance and functionality
Maintain user accounts and subscriptions
Respond to parent inquiries or support requests

We do not use data for targeted advertising or marketing.

4. Data Storage and Security

StorySeeds uses Supabase as its secure database service and Google Cloud for text-to-speech narration and simple object recognition.

Data is stored in Supabase with Row Level Security (RLS) so that each family can only access their own content.
Photos are stored as URIs or references in JSON fields.
When a parent deletes their account, all associated child profiles and content are automatically removed (cascading delete).
Supabase and Google Cloud maintain encryption at rest and in transit for stored data.
No one outside your family can access your stories, photos, or personal data.

5. Parental Accounts and Controls

Parents create and manage all child profiles.

Children cannot sign up or log in independently.
Parents can view, download, or delete all stored data at any time.
Account deletion permanently removes all related stories, photos, and user data.

6. Voice and Audio Features

StorySeeds uses preset, friendly AI narrator voices generated via Google Cloud Text-to-Speech.

No custom voice recordings or cloning are stored or uploaded.
All narration files are stored locally on the device and are not transmitted externally.

7. Data Retention

We keep data only for as long as your account is active.

If a parent deletes an account, all data is erased immediately.
We may keep limited, non-identifiable records (like subscription receipts) only as required by law or payment processors.

StorySeeds uses a few trusted services to provide core functionality:

Each service is used only to provide StorySeeds’ core storytelling features, not for advertising or analytics.

9. Parental Consent and Verification

Before creating a child profile, a verified parent account is required.

Verification occurs through email and password authentication.
We rely on this verification as proof of parental consent for collecting limited child data.
Parents may withdraw consent at any time by deleting the account.

10. Your Rights

Parents and guardians have the right to:

Access, review, and delete their child’s personal information
Refuse further collection of data

11. Subscription and Payments

StorySeeds is a subscription-based app:

$4 per month or $40 per year via Apple or Google in-app purchases
No ads or external monetization
Parents manage all payments through their app store accounts

12. Data from Outside the U.S.

StorySeeds is based in the United States and follows U.S. privacy law. If you use the app from another country, you consent to having your data processed in the U.S.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect new features or legal requirements.

Any updates will appear in the app and on our website.
The “Last Updated” date at the top shows when the latest version took effect.
