This Privacy Policy describes how StorySeeds AI (“Service”) is operated and managed by Jacob Wikingellis (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), and how information is collected, used, processed, stored, and disclosed in connection with the Service.

We are committed to the protection of children’s privacy, the responsible stewardship of data, and the implementation of privacy-by-design and data minimization principles. Children’s data is treated as highly sensitive information.

1. Scope and Applicability

This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the Service, including parents or legal guardians who use the Service on behalf of a child.

The Service is intended to be accessed and controlled by parents or legal guardians. Children are not permitted to independently create accounts, modify settings, or submit information without parental involvement.

The Service does not provide social networking features, public posting functionality, or user-to-user communication of any kind.

2. Definitions

For purposes of this Privacy Policy:

“Personal Information” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, or could reasonably be linked to an identifiable individual.

“User-Generated Content” means story prompts, narrative descriptions, thematic inputs, optional first names for personalization, and optional photographs voluntarily submitted by a parent or authorized adult user for story generation purposes.

“Processing” means any operation performed on information, including collection, storage, use, transmission, or deletion.

3. Information We Collect

We adhere to strict data minimization principles and collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide the Service.

3.1 Parent or Guardian Information

We may collect:

Parent or guardian email address
Account login credentials
Subscription and billing information (processed via a third-party payment processor)
Communications submitted to us

3.2 Child Information

We do not collect independent personal information about a child such as:

Last name
Home address
Phone number
Email address
Precise geolocation
Government identifiers
Persistent advertising identifiers
Social media identifiers
Biometric identifiers
Voice recordings

The only information that may relate to a child is:

An optional first name included within a story at the sole election of the parent or guardian
An optional photograph uploaded by the parent for inclusion in story generation

Such inclusion is entirely voluntary and parent-initiated.

The Service does not enable voice recording, does not collect audio recordings, and does not collect voiceprints or biometric audio data.

3.3 User-Generated Content

Parents may voluntarily submit:

Story prompts or descriptions
Creative themes or narrative requests
Optional uploaded photographs

Submission occurs solely at the direction of a parent or authorized adult.

The Service does not permit open-ended chat functionality, free-form AI conversation, or user-to-user messaging.

3.4 Automatically Collected Technical Information

We may collect limited technical information necessary for functionality, such as:

Device type
Application performance data
Error logs

This information is used exclusively for operational integrity, security, and system performance monitoring.

We do not use hidden background audio collection, passive voice monitoring, or undisclosed data capture mechanisms.

4. Purpose of Processing

We process information solely to:

Provide and operate the Service
Generate customized stories
Convert stories into audio narration
Maintain account functionality
Process subscriptions and payments
Ensure platform safety, content moderation, and performance
Comply with legal obligations

We do not use children’s information for behavioral advertising, marketing profiling, or cross-platform tracking.

4.1 AI Safety, Content Filtering, and Moderation

The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate structured, child-appropriate storytelling content.

We implement multiple safeguards designed to reduce unsafe or inappropriate outputs, including:

System-level guardrails and prompt constraints
Content filtering and moderation systems
Restricted topic categories
Safety classifiers designed to block violent, explicit, adult, or otherwise inappropriate themes
Ongoing monitoring and refinement of content generation processes

The Service does not permit unrestricted AI interaction. Story generation occurs within a structured and controlled framework intended to promote predictability and child safety.

While no automated system can guarantee the complete elimination of unexpected outputs, StorySeeds AI is designed with a safety-first architecture and layered risk mitigation controls.

5. Third-Party Disclosure and Service Providers

5.1 No Sale or Advertising Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, license, trade, or otherwise monetize Personal Information.

We do not share Personal Information or User-Generated Content with advertisers, advertising networks, data brokers, or social media marketing platforms.

We do not permit behavioral advertising trackers within the child-facing environment of the Service.

The Service does not enable user-to-user communication, chatrooms, messaging systems, comment features, or public content sharing.

5.2 Limited Transmission of User-Generated Content for Story Generation

The only information transmitted to a third party for story generation is limited User-Generated Content submitted by a parent. This may include:

Story prompts or narrative descriptions
An optional first name included for personalization
An optional uploaded photograph

This transmission occurs solely to enable story generation functionality.

5.3 Exclusive AI Processing by ChatGPT

User-Generated Content used for story generation is transmitted exclusively to ChatGPT (operated by OpenAI or its successor entity), acting strictly as a service provider and data processor.

When transmitted:

No parent email address is included
No account identifiers are included
No billing information is included
No location data is included
No independent child contact information is included

We implement safeguards designed to ensure that only the minimum content necessary to generate the requested story is transmitted.

Such content is processed solely for the purpose of generating story output and is not used by us for advertising profiling.

5.4 Text-to-Speech Processing by Google

In order to provide audio narration of generated stories, story text may be transmitted to Google’s Text-to-Speech service for the limited purpose of converting text into spoken audio.

We use Google Text-to-Speech to provide high-quality, natural-sounding narration. We do not use on-device native speech libraries where they do not meet our quality standards.

When story text is transmitted for text-to-speech processing:

Only the generated story text is transmitted
No photographs are transmitted
No parent email addresses are transmitted
No account identifiers are transmitted
No billing information is transmitted
No child contact information is transmitted
No voice recordings are transmitted

Google does not receive uploaded photographs, user account information, or independent child data in connection with text-to-speech processing.

The text is transmitted solely for the purpose of generating audio narration and is not shared for advertising purposes by us.

5.5 Image Processing and Storage

If a parent elects to upload a photograph for story personalization:

The image may be securely transmitted to ChatGPT solely for story generation processing.
The image is not used for advertising, marketing, or profiling purposes.
The image is not sold or licensed.

Uploaded images are stored only within the Service’s controlled repository under the directory /assets/images/.

Images are not stored in external third-party databases beyond what is necessary for secure processing by our designated service provider.

Parents may request deletion of uploaded images at any time.

6. Data Retention

We retain Parent or Guardian account information only for as long as reasonably necessary to:

Maintain the account
Provide subscription access
Comply with legal obligations

With respect to children:

We do not maintain independent child profiles or collect standalone child Personal Information.

The only data that may reference a child is a generated story that optionally includes a first name if the parent elects to include it. Such stories are retained solely to allow the parent to access previously generated content.

Uploaded photographs are retained only as long as necessary to provide story access functionality and may be deleted upon parental request.

Upon deletion request, such content will be removed from active systems within a reasonable period, subject to backup retention policies and legal obligations.

7. Parental Rights and Controls

Parents or legal guardians may:

Access their account information
Modify or correct account information
Request deletion of stored stories
Request deletion of uploaded photographs
Close their account

Access to parental controls is protected by a child-resistant gate (e.g., a cognitive challenge such as a math problem) designed to prevent unsupervised child access.

Where required by law, we obtain verifiable parental consent prior to collecting or processing information relating to a child.

8. Security Measures

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

The Service does not enable voice chat, does not provide open microphone functionality for conversation, and does not record or store audio from users.

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure.

9. International Data Transfers

If information is processed outside a user’s country of residence, we implement safeguards consistent with applicable data protection laws.

10. Compliance with Children’s Privacy Laws

The Service is designed in alignment with:

The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including GDPR-K
Applicable U.S. state privacy laws
Applicable app marketplace safety requirements for child-directed applications

We collect only the minimum information reasonably necessary to provide the Service requested by a parent.
